In addition to my own thriving practice supporting families to have healthy, powerful births and other reproductive health experiences, I am committed to growing a team of doulas who are in line with the Birth Takes A Village philosophy. All of the doulas who work with me have trained through Wise Woman Way of Birth and believe in an approach to birth that respects client autonomy, supports the natural physiology of birth and is committed to creating a context for birth, miscarriage and abortion that is gentle, informed, and empowering for the communities we serve.
Talia and Meena are currently working together as a team to support clients while Jessica takes a leave from attending births! Email us to inquire to get other recommendations in the community suited to your needs for your birth!

I fell in love with babies and expecting moms at the age of 16, when my sister had her first child. Since then, I have had the opportunity to care for many children, and eventually felt called to take my skill of providing nurturing support to families into birth work. My goal is to educate women and help them connect with their inner strength, allowing them to gain confidence in their body’s ability to give birth. My services include three prenatal visits, on-going support via text or email, twenty-four hour on call service from 38 weeks until the birth and one postpartum visit. As a Kundalini Yoga Teacher, a personalized meditation/mindset practice can also be designed to help you prepare emotionally.

Talia Kleinplatz
Talia is a doula and birth photographer, and a completed the Wise Woman Way of Birth Doula Training under Jessica. Her politics and beliefs are right in line with the Birth Takes A Village philosophy, and I am excited about how much she has to contribute to the world of birth. Her background is in social work which gives her valuable skills in providing strong and warm support along with advocacy. You know she was made for birth work because the thing that drew her to take a doula training program was the fact that her community kept inviting her to births before she ever had any official training!
I was invited to my first home birth in 2016 as a photographer and support person. This powerful experience led me to pursue more formal training in birth work. As a birth doula, I deeply believe in a person’s right to make informed choices about their bodies, their babies, their care and their experience throughout the entire process of pregnancy and birth. My doula training has emphasized the importance of promoting an informed birth culture and provided a deepened understanding of normal, physiological birth and how best to support this process. I was born and raised in Windsor, Ontario. I spent 6 years in Montreal where I completed an undergraduate in Women’s Studies and a Masters in Social Work. I moved to Vancouver in 2011 and I continue to work in the field of adult mental health.
